Glidell sponsors and supports events and trips for the local paragliding community.
Why? Because we love all things paragliding! We love to share new sites and experiences,
and believe in promoting the sport and the safe enjoyment of it.
Events are typically safety related training clinics on topics such as reserve parachutes,
weather, and disaster recovery. These clinics range from a couple of hours to a couple
of days, and often include guest experts.
And trips? While we have some great local flying sites, most
pilots quickly begin to yearn for new and different landscapes and skies to explore.
Glidell pilots are no different! Read on...
For students beginner through intermediate, we host frequent weekend trips to other flying sites in California,
typically to areas near Redding and the Sierra foothills. Students with only a
few lessons are often ready to spread their wings at a mountain site, where they
are able to experience longer flights while still flying in calm air with an instructor
guiding them every step of the way. These weekend trips provide students the opportunity
to experience new launch, landing zone, and air characteristics which is invaluable
to their continued flying career.
"BIG" Trips...
For the more advanced students and paragliding community in general, Glidell puts
together two or three trips a year to more distant locales, typically of a one
to two week duration. Presently, our favorite places are France and Mexico.
France is the birthplace of paragliding and boasts a huge population of
paragliding sites (in the Alps, of course!) and top pilots. Mexico offers
"big air" and great winter flying.
